1. Who we are
The PMM Story (thepmmstory.com) is run by an individual. The controller responsible for your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Krishna Kant
10553 Berlin, Germany
Email: contact@thepmmstory.com
2. What we collect
When you email us. Your name, email address and whatever you write, including any story, article pitch, links or attachments you send.
When you're a podcast guest. Your name, role, and the video and audio of our conversation. See section 5.
When you visit the site. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
We do not use analytics, run advertising, sell data, or build profiles of visitors.
3. How we use it, and on what legal basis
- Replying to you and handling submissions: to take the steps you ask for, and our legitimate interest in running the site (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
- Publishing your story, article or podcast episode: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Delivering and securing the site: our legitimate interest in a fast, safe, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Stories and articles
Nothing you send us is published without your approval. Before a story or article goes live, you see the final version. You can ask us to anonymise employer or product details.
Once published, your piece shows your name, role and the profile link you choose, such as your LinkedIn or personal website. You can ask us to update or remove it at any time by emailing contact@thepmmstory.com.
5. Podcast recordings
If you join us as a guest, we record our conversation on Google Meet or Riverside. Before recording, we ask you to agree to a short guest release that explains how the episode will be used.
With your consent, the edited episode is published on our YouTube channel and LinkedIn page and embedded on this website, together with a written story. Short clips and quotes may be shared on those channels too.
You can ask us to take an episode down at any time. We'll remove it from our website and channels, but copies that others have already shared or downloaded may be outside our control.
6. Services we use
We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA): hosts this website, protects it against attacks, and forwards emails sent to contact@thepmmstory.com to our mailbox.
- Gmail (Google Ireland Limited): the mailbox where emails sent to contact@thepmmstory.com are received and stored.
- Google Meet (Google Ireland Limited) and Riverside (Riverside.fm): used to record podcast conversations.
- YouTube (Google Ireland Limited) and LinkedIn (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company): where podcast episodes are published. Videos on this site are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, so no data is sent to YouTube until you press play. When you do, Google processes your data under its own privacy policy.
Some of these providers may transfer data outside the EU, including to the USA. Where they do, they rely on an adequacy decision, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or on Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- Emails, unpublished submissions and unpublished recordings: no longer than 12 weeks after our last exchange.
- Raw, unedited podcast recordings: no longer than 12 weeks after the episode is published.
- Published stories, articles and episodes: until you ask us to remove them.
- Technical data processed by Cloudflare: kept only briefly, as set out in Cloudflare's own policies.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- have it corrected or deleted
- restrict or object to how we process it
- receive it in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what happened before
To use any of these rights, email contact@thepmmstory.com.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Get in touch.
